Dr. Joxel Garcia, MD, MBA
Chairman of the Board
Dr. Garcia is a nationally and internationally recognized and respected healthcare leader in various areas, including corporate, international, federal, and state health regulation and administration, global and public health, and higher education. Dr. Garcia has superb knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities in healthcare and public health. He presently leads multi-sectorial efforts to improve population health, health security and eliminate health disparities for seniors and others, understanding the importance of new technologies including A.I., telemedicine, and wearables in clinical, outpatient, and home care settings.
Dr. García serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Medical Officer of Ambitna, an ambitious platform using A.I. and proprietary algorithms to discover cures faster to improve health equity, thus reducing health disparities. Dr. Garcia also serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Health Strategy Officer of Aegis Health Analytics to advise private and public sectors in building successful Healthcare teams that generate programs. Prior, Dr. Garcia served as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at American Express global headquarters in New York City, Executive Director of the MD Anderson Cancer Prevention and Control Platform, and Senior Vice President and Senior Medical Officer at Maximus Federal Services.
Dr. García served as the 14th Assistant Secretary for Health of the United States and a Four-Star Admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service, both positions confirmed by the U.S. Senate. As the highest-ranking medical officer in the United States, he served as the primary advisor on national public health and science matters for the Secretary of Health.
Dr. García served as United States Representative to the World Health Organization Executive Board. Previous duties include his service as Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Hemisphere for the World Health Organization. He also served as the Commissioner of the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Director of the Washington D.C. Department of Health, and the President and Dean of Medicine for the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Garcia has served on several boards of nationally recognized health care organizations, including the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and the National Dialogue on Cancer. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Secretary of Defense Award for Exceptional Public Service, the U.S. Public Health Service Distinguished Service Award, and honorary doctoral degrees from several American universities.
Joseph Krysztoforski
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Joseph Krysztoforski is a dynamic leader with a long list of accomplishments. His career spans over 40 years in education, technology, banking, finance, healthcare, emergency management and the political arena. He is a former Congressional Candidate and Civic Leader who served in various positions in both the private and public sectors. He has served as Chairman and CEO of multiple organizations and taught high school advanced placement classes.
He entered the political arena in 1972 when he worked for passage of the 26th Amendment and continued as a volunteer organizer of various local and state campaigns. He spent over eight years in Washington educating legislators from both parties, including Bob Dole and Chris Dodd, on topics ranging from healthcare reform to the use of technology to prevent fraud.
He was a founding director of the Smart Card Forum, Chaired a Health Care Administrative Reform Committee, served on boards including, the Association of Information & Technology Professionals, Paladin Data Systems, PDS Research Associates, SCDPI, Healthcare Information Technology Associates, Maryland Auxiliary Communications Service and the Mayor’s City Wide IT Advisor Board.
In addition to his extensive success in the private sector, Joseph Krysztoforski has dedicated himself to community activism and the preservation of the ideologies upon which our nation was founded.
Remy Szykier
Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Remy Szykier is an internationally and nationally recognized leader in information technology, analytics, and healthcare. Her innovative solutions and work have transcended several continents, including her work in Asia, Central and South America, and Europe. She has led philanthropic and humanitarian initiatives, including maternal and child health, eco-friendly energy, and clinical research with health equity.
Presently she is President and member of the Board of Directors of Ambitna. Ambitna is an innovative and unique platform that uses AI and proprietary algorithms to automatically enroll eligible patients to clinical research with security, privacy, and blockchain-based information services.
She is on the board of UbiVault, a cybersecurity company that provides military-grade data security to secure data at rest and in motion that provides distributed ledger tracking of networks and federated analytics.
Ms. Szykier is a founding partner of Aegis Health Analytics, where she has led strategic partnerships and professional services with national and global leaders in the fields of healthcare, technology, and academia. In these fields, she identifies opportunities for digital transformation.
Ms. Szykier serves as an advisor to EdLogics, Global Action Platform and Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business.
She has received multiple prestigious awards, including an award by the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) for her work to mitigate health disparities while decreasing infant mortality. Formerly she held leadership positions in technology companies across multiple industries with successful acquisitions and IPO.
John E. Hart
Executive Board Member
John Hart is currently the President & CEO and Board Director for two companies: Southern Spine LLC and Smisson-Cartledge Biomedical LLC. Prior John was part of the turnaround team at CONMED Corporation (CNMD/NYSE) who helped take the company to their next levels of Sales and Profit Growth. John was the Vice President & General Manager for the Cardiology & Critical Care Division which he led from negative to double digit Sales and Profit growth, and Healthcare Solutions the corporate contracting team representing $500 million in U.S. Sales that landed more IDN, GPO and government contracts that helped raise the company stock price from ~$30 per share in 2015 to over $120 in 2019. Mr. Hart began his career in operations management and sales positions with the Ethicon division of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ:NYSE) in New Jersey. John has held key leadership positions in Operations, Sales, Marketing, Business Development and General Management including President & CEO with over 35 years of successful commercial leadership experience in the healthcare industry and medical devices including over 25 years in senior executive positions.
Prior to CONMED, John was Chief Operating Officer for ISTO Technologies, Inc., a venture backed company in St. Louis focused on biologics and cartilage regeneration for the knee and back. Prior to that, Mr. Hart was President & CEO for five years at Vidar Systems Corporation, a private equity-owned, leading digital medical imaging company located in Herndon, Virginia. Both companies achieved successful M&A exits. In 2006, John co-founded SurgiQuest, Inc. in Connecticut as its first President & CEO. SurgiQuest was an innovative Venture Capital-backed laparoscopic surgical company which was sold to CONMED in 2016 for $265M.
Previously, Mr. Hart held senior executive positions in Fortune 500 companies, including Stryker Orthopaedics (Stryker Corporation – SYK:NYSE) and U.S. Surgical Corporation (Covidien - now Medtronic – MDT:NYSE) where he was Vice President & General Manager, V.P. of Marketing and V.P. of Sales for multi-billion dollar divisions. Mr. Hart has led divisions with over $2.5 Billion in global revenues and has held direct responsibility for over 1,000 people. He has been involved in a number of cutting-edge medical technologies throughout his career including coronary angioplasty and stenting, laparoscopic surgery and robotics, minimally invasive surgery, orthopaedic implants and instrumentation, spine surgery, ortho-biologics and regeneration, PPE, wireless monitoring and digital medical imaging. John is on the Board of Directors for Virginia Bio. Mr. Hart has a BS from The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.
Rakesh Parikh
Executive Board Member
Rakesh Parikh focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, entity form advice, company formations, corporate governance, and securities offerings. He has experience with a wide range of commercial contracts including vendor contracts and technology and intellectual property agreements. He also has experience advising on intellectual property, technology, insurance, finance and general regulatory matters.
Rakesh provides clients with strategic corporate advice while tackling items at the forefront of the law. With a strong foundation in business fundamentals, Rakesh effectively communicates the law and ways to overcome obstacles to compliance.
Before joining Williams Mullen, Rakesh represented private equity firms and served as senior counsel for a global insurance company and as general counsel for a leading national fuel distributor.
As an entrepreneur and former in-house counsel, Rakesh has a deep understanding of his clients' needs and is well-positioned to help them achieve their business goals.
Rakesh is former chair of the Virginia Bar Association's Corporate Counsel Section and is currently a member of both the Virginia and Richmond Bar Association's Corporate Counsel Sections. He received his Juris Doctor degree from William & Mary School of Law, along with his Master of Business Administration degree from William & Mary School of Business. Rakesh received both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from North Carolina State University.
Dee Northern
Principal/Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Dee is a highly accomplished financial professional with a remarkable background in finance, equity analysis, and behavioral finance. His finance career began early, trading equities as a high school student and eventually launched his own website while at Old Dominion University.
Raised by a US Army Drill Sergeant and a Registered Nurse, Dee developed a strong work ethic and a keen sense of discipline. After graduating, he joined Edelman Financial, where he quickly made a name for himself as an invaluable member of the team. He worked closely with several highly regarded wealth advisors, assisting them with managing portfolios worth several hundred million dollars. Dee's exceptional skill set and unwavering dedication to excellence set him apart and earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike.
Dee then joined Buckingham Strategic Wealth, where he continued to excel. He worked with several advisors managing portfolios worth several hundred million dollars and played an instrumental role in helping the firm develop more equitable and inclusive business practices. He served on the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Council, an extension of the Board of Directors, and his leadership and expertise were crucial in achieving exceptional results.
Today, Dee is the CEO/Principal of NL Capital Ventures, a highly regarded healthcare M&A firm, and a Wealth Advisor who serves a diverse group of individuals, families, & business owners. He has extensive experience in real estate transactions, business valuation, negotiation, and commercial financing, and his expertise is highly sought after.
With his impressive credentials, exceptional skill set, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Dee is a highly respected and admired member of the financial services industry. When he's not working, he enjoys traveling, practicing Muay Thai and playing basketball.
